The value of listening - message from Healthwatch Wokingham Borough's Advisory Group
Healthwatch Wokingham Borough team has had a busy year, this is our second year and we are delighted to introduce our 2024/25 annual report.
We have held several engagement events (and outreach sessions) at community centres and with voluntary and community sector partners in every corner of Wokingham.
The local team has expanded, with an office at the Wokingham Community and Charity Hub. We have been ambitious in maximising our capacity, whilst retaining focus on the quality of our in-depth look at topics of concern - with projects on GP access and quality, and dentistry and learning disability.
As a result of the GP access project, we have assisted with the new way of working, increasing awareness of the team of trained professionals to see patients at GP surgeries, from social prescribers, to practice nurses, to care navigators.
We have continued to build relationships with Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) and with the Health and Wellbeing Board at Wokingham Borough Council.
We are now beginning to get recognition of Healthwatch Wokingham Borough being the point of contact in representing patients’ views, experiences and needs, but there is still more to do, and we look forward to 2024/25.
We encourage the public to visit our website or reach out to our team to get the latest information about health and social care.
Thank you to all Wokingham Borough residents and community groups who have engaged with our projects and welcomed us.
